For the last nine years the Showcase has provided an opportunity to emerging and established choreographers to premiere new and recent works within one program. Produced by Starr Foster Dance Project, the Showcase is presented with the sole mission to not only offer opportunities to choreographers, but to also bring the Richmond community together and celebrate dance and the performing arts.

The Mid-Atlantic Dance Exchange is a culmination of performances by choreographers from the Mid-Atlantic Region . The vision of the exchange is for established choreographers to share dance works, within one concert, in a variety of different cities. Each event will offer performances featuring at least two different choreographers as well as offer dance workshops for the public. Richmond Performances feature James Hansen Dance and Starr Foster Dance Project.

Elation, a Minds Wide Open event, is an ecstatic celebration of the progressive arts. An interactive night embracing modern dance, fire spectacle, experimental theater, performance art and international movement, you'll be grooving all night long with the Corner's Chillville DJs. Participants include Scintillation Fire Troupe, this little bird theatre, Fire in the Belly, Ezibu Muntu African Dance, Starr Foster Dance Project, the Mangalam School of Indian Dance, and many more. All proceeds to benefit the Virginia Commission for the Arts.

Old Dominion University Theatre with Andrey Kasparov
March 1st and 2nd, 2010 / 8pm

Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia
In a joint project between the Norfolk Chamber Consort and Diehn Concert Series, two prominent choreographers, Starr Foster of Starr Foster Dance Project and Beverly Cordova Duane of Hampton University, will be joined by a noted Tidewater choreographer Tamika Steeley. They will converge on the stage of Old Dominion University’s Theater for an evening of premieres with live music. Featuring individual works by each choreographer, this performance will culminate in a uniquely conceived collaborative piece. The program will also feature the music premieres of works by guest composers Christopher Cook and Petros Ovsepyan in addition to music composed and arranged by John Corigliano, Aurél Holló, Maurice Ravel and Andrey Kasparov.For more information visit: www.ncconsort.org
